Microsuction Earwax Removal

Microsuction Earwax Removal is a water-free, highly effective procedure used to precisely remove earwax. Unlike traditional ear syringing, microsuction using curettes is the preferred and safer technique employed by ENT specialists, as it minimises the risk of infection or eardrum damage.

Our accredited audiologists offer this advanced earwax removal service at an affordable price, making it a convenient and accessible solution for safe and effective earwax removal.

Please note:
-Our earwax removal services are available for individuals 18 years and older.

-To ensure the procedure is as comfortable and effective as possible, we recommend softening earwax with eardrops or plain olive oil 2-3 days before your appointment.

Full charges apply for earwax removal. $50 if no wax is found, a middle ear pressure test is provided instead. Travel fee applies if applicable regardless of outcome.

Important:
-Do not use eardrops if you have a hole in your eardrum.

-If you have any complex ear or medical conditions, such as an active ear infection, ear pain, a perforated eardrum, a history of ear surgeries inside the ear canal, or are taking blood-thinning medication, we cannot perform earwax removal for safety reasons. We recommend consulting an ENT specialist for the procedure.

Comprehensive Adult Hearing Assessment with Report

This thorough adult hearing assessment is ideal for anyone—whether you are considering hearing aids or simply want a clear understanding of your hearing health. You will receive a written report and an electronic copy of their audiogram and tympanogram at no additional cost.

Before testing:
• An otoscopic examination of the ears will be performed to ensure the ear canal and eardrum are clear. If earwax removal is required, this is a separate service and will incur an additional fee.

The assessment may include the following tests, if clinically indicated:
• Standard pure tone audiometry (air and bone conduction, including masking if required) up to 8 kHz
• Speech audiometry
• Tympanometry
• Acoustic reflex testing

Your audiologist will review your results in detail and provide personalised recommendations including device options if appropriate.

If you have a valid medical referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. Your report will be sent to your referring doctor.

• Extended High-Frequency Testing (up to 20 kHz) is recommended for patients who:
• Have taken or are currently taking ototoxic medications (e.g., chemotherapy drugs), or
• Have normal standard audiograms but still experience hearing difficulties.

Children’s Comprehensive Hearing Assessment

This hearing assessment is designed for children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 who can follow instructions independently, without the need for play-based methods. Testing will be conducted based on the patient’s ability to participate, which may include pure-tone audiometry (air conduction and/or bone conduction up to 8 kHz, and masking if clinically necessary), speech audiometry, and tympanometry if clinically required. The audiologist will review the results in detail and provide referrals if clinically indicated.

An electronic copy of the hearing graph (audiogram) can be provided at no additional cost upon request.

Note: You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate if you have a valid written medical referral from a medical practitioner. The Medicare rebate amount can vary depending on the services provided and whether you qualify for EMSN. To assist with your Medicare claim, we will need the Medicare details of the patient and/or claimant.

Extended High-Frequency Hearing Assessment

This assessment is especially useful for patients who experience hearing difficulties that may not be detectable on a standard audiogram, which only tests up to 8 kHz. For example, individuals who have been told their standard audiogram is normal but still notice hearing challenges will benefit from this extended range. It is also helpful for monitoring potential hearing damage in patients who have taken or are currently taking ototoxic medications (e.g., chemotherapy drugs for cancer).

We are proud to be one of the very few audiology clinics to invest in the latest and most advanced equipment, enabling us to test the full range of human hearing up to 20 kHz, along with speech audiometry and impedance audiometry (including tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing), if clinically required. This provides a complete picture of your hearing and helps to identify early signs of hearing loss. The audiologist will discuss the results in detail and review personalised treatment options or referrals if clinically indicated.

An electronic copy of the hearing graph (audiogram) can be provided at no additional cost upon request.

Hearing Device Discussion

This consultation is intended for individuals who have completed a valid hearing test within the last three months, provided their hearing has remained stable, or for those seeking a second opinion. Please bring your hearing graph (audiogram) if you have had a recent hearing test from another provider. If there has been a noticeable change in your hearing, please book a full hearing assessment with us, as an accurate hearing level is necessary for device recommendations and programming.

The audiologist will discuss a range of hearing aid and/or assistive listening device (ALD) options, including different technology levels and brands that may suit your hearing needs, lifestyle, and budget.

Hearing Aid Trial

Experience the benefits of hearing aids before committing to a purchase. During this appointment, the audiologist will fit demo hearing aid(s) that may be suitable for your hearing profile. You can then take the hearing aids home for a 7-day trial, experiencing them in a variety of settings to determine if they meet your hearing needs. No obligation to purchase any devices if you choose to return them.

Workers' Compensation Hearing Assessment

This assessment is free for eligible clients, subject to approval by the relevant insurer or ReturnToWorkSA for those who have experienced noise-induced hearing loss in the workplace. It includes the required tests specified by ReturnToWorkSA and a report to support your claim. If this is a return claim, please bring your claim number to the appointment, if applicable.

Please note that if your employer or ReturnToWorkSA rejects coverage for the assessment, applicable fees may apply.

Tinnitus Assessment

This comprehensive evaluation focuses on your tinnitus and overall hearing health. Where clinically required, it may include:

-Pure-tone audiometry to measure your hearing thresholds.
-Pitch and loudness matching to characterise the tinnitus sound.
-A tinnitus-specific questionnaire to assess its impact on daily life.
-Additional tests if clinically indicated.

The audiologist will thoroughly explain your results and discuss potential management options or referrals, if needed. Upon request, an electronic copy of your audiogram can be provided at no additional cost.

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate with a valid medical referral (existing patients only). The assessment follows our tinnitus assessment service protocol, and a report will be sent to the referring doctor after the test.

Personalised Earplugs Consultation

This consultation helps you select personalised earplugs or hearing protection, including options such as musician earplugs, sleep plugs, and swimming plugs, tailored to your specific needs. The audiologist will discuss your requirements, guide you through the available options, and take ear impressions for a perfect fit.
Please note that the cost of custom products may vary depending on your selection.

Device Review

This appointment is available for clients who need minor adjustments, fine-tuning, or quick fixes to their hearing devices. Please note that this appointment does not include any hearing check. It is ideal for those experiencing issues or wanting to ensure their devices are performing at their best, which may include the necessary firmware updates and adjustments to your devices for optimal performance.

We may also review your hearing goals to ensure continued satisfaction with your devices.
-If your device has reached its 4-5 year lifespan, the audiologist can also guide you through the latest technology options, ensuring you continue to experience clear hearing every day.

Please note that major repairs, such as those requiring devices to be sent back to the manufacturer or the need for new ear moulds/receivers, will incur additional charges if not covered by the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

They sent 2 audiologists to our house for my son's hearing test. Oli was much calmer than he would’ve been in a clinic environment. We could claim through Medicare with the gap being around $75. Other places quoted us like $200 for a children's hearing test so the gap there would’ve been double what we paid! We’ll definitely be booking with Blossom Hearing Care again for Oli's yearly hearing test, I couldn’t be more pleased with their service.

I was so impressed with their pricing and service! I received a flyer in my mailbox and got a $10 discount on their microsuction, bringing the cost down to just $85. On top of that, I didn’t have to drive to a clinic or wait around—I could relax at home on my day off. They only charged me $18 for the travel fee which is very reasonable considering I live a bit further away. The audiologist made the whole experience smooth and comfortable, it was totally worth it. I had been quoted $150 by a nurse from an earwax removal company which seemed a bit steep especially considering I’d also need to drive to their clinic. In comparison, the audiologist not only saved me time but their pricing was much more affordable with excellent service. I’ll definitely book another appointment in six months as my ears tend to get blocked. Highly recommend Blossom Hearing Care!
